It comes as no surprise to us that many of our county partners do more than just record Deeds — they perform goodDEEDS. We thought it would be a great idea to share as many of these stories as possible. By doing so we hope to raise awareness of the various charities and organizations they contribute to. We want to build their momentum and effectiveness in achieving their very important goals.
We would like to thank the Marion County Recorder’s Office staff in Ohio for their charitable efforts. For more than five years, the staff has participated with the Operation Christmas Child program. Operation Christmas Child is an annual program created by the non-profit organization Samaritan Purse. The goal of the project is to collect donated items such as small toy cars, dolls, stuffed animals, yo-yos, Slinkys, jump ropes, school supplies, and personal hygiene items. Once the items are collected by the staff they are put into shoeboxes, wrapped in gift paper and then shipped to children located outside of the United States. These shoebox items reach children that do not typically receive Christmas gifts – most of whom don’t have the basic essentials.
The Marion County staff were able to help contribute to the 11,485,662 shoebox gifts that were collected for the 2016 Holiday Season. Since starting in 1993, Operation Christmas Child has been able to give 135 million gift-filled shoeboxes to children in over 150 countries and territories around the world. Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization that provides spiritual and physical aid to people in need on a global level.
We would like to thank the Marion County Recorder’s staff for their efforts and for donating their time to the community.
