It comes as no surprise to us that many of our county partners do more than just record Deeds — they perform goodDEEDS. We thought it would be a great idea to share as many of these stories as possible. By doing so we hope to raise awareness of the various charities and organizations they contribute to. We want to build their momentum and effectiveness in achieving their very important goals
We’d like to thank Mary Pankey, Miller County Circuit Clerk and her staff for their charitable work this last Holiday Season. The office held a silent auction to benefit the Domestic Violence Prevention, Inc. The non-profit organization which is located in Texarkana, AR, provides sensitive, confidential assistance to victims of sexual assault, as well as emergency shelter and support groups for women and children.
The Circuit Clerk staff collected and donated items that were bid on over the course of three days the week before Christmas. The collected items included a variety of themed gift baskets – such as fishing, cooking, sweets, etc. A handmade quilt was also an item donated to be auctioned. Last year’s auction raised nearly $500 for the community, but this year’s event far surpassed the previous amount by raising nearly $2,000 at the close of the auction.
We would like to thank Mary and her staff for donating their time to the community.
