goodDeeds • November 2019
It comes as no surprise to us that many of our county partners do more than just record Deeds — they perform goodDEEDS. By sharing as many of these good deeds as possible, we hope to raise awareness of the various charities and organizations they contribute to. We want to build their momentum and effectiveness in achieving their very important goals.
Fidlar Technologies would like to recognize DeKalb County, home to Don Albin and the drive-through Nativity scene he and his church community continue to put on year after year. The drive-through Nativity spans the entire parking lot surrounding Don’s church, featuring many stations that visitors pull up to. Visitors at the Nativity scene drive up to each handcrafted station where they are presented with a specific scene, sometimes accompanied by members of the church who enhance the scene with in-costume acting. The visitor then drives to the next station, all of which have been handcrafted by Don and other members of his church community. At the end of the drive-through experience, visitors can make an at-will donation that the church collects and donates to a nearby free care clinic where the funds are used to pay for bills that patients cannot afford to pay for themselves.

“Every year before Christmas, we run a drive-through Nativity scene to raise money through at-will donations. These donations go to a nearby healthcare free care clinic that covers bills that the patient can’t afford. It’s been a great way to get people together and build a stronger community while raising money for a worthy cause. We are very proud of the hard work and commitment to charity that our community shows.”
-Don Albin, DeKalb County Part-Time
Don, who has been a member of the church for over 30 years, recalls that the event has been taking place as long as he’s been attending. He extols the benefits of such a community-driven event, highlighting the togetherness it builds and how important it is to provide any amount of help to a service such as what their local free care clinic offers. In just one night every year, the Nativity scene attracts 125-150 cars on just word of mouth and a small amount of newspaper advertising alone, proving that members of the DeKalb County community agree with Don. Not only is such an event a sight to behold, but the event brings with it the spirit of the Christmas season – giving, caring, and compassion. Fidlar Technologies wishes Don and his community continued success in their charitable efforts.
