Now live with AVID and everything it has to offer, Clinton County Recorder Brenda Huff and her staff have gotten a look into the revolutionary world of AVID document recording. While any new technology certainly brings with it a learning curve, the Clinton County office has already hit their stride and begun experiencing the positive change that AVID‘s many useful aspects provide. Brenda Huff and her staff are one month in, but already enjoying AVID.

• Portage County is now offering Property Fraud Alert to county residents [Keeping their constituents first in mind, the Portage County Recorder’s office now offers Property Fraud Alert – at no charge to residents.]

• Property fraud is growing in regularity and severity [Various forms of property fraud are growing in regularity and evolving in complexity, posing a major threat to citizens. Property Fraud Alert helps to protect residents’ homes against such crimes.]

• Property Fraud Alert provides awareness and protection via free notifications [Completely free to county residents, Property Fraud Alert notifies citizens when a fraudulent record or claim is filed against their property.]

Fidlar Technologies is excited to highlight Portage County and their commitment to protecting their citizens. By offering Property Fraud Alert to Portage County residents, Recorder Lori Calcei and her staff, continue to prove that their constituents’ well being is at the forefront of their concern. We face dangerous times with a growing array of crimes, scams, and hacks always hovering around the corner, and counties that provide services like Property Fraud Alert provide an ideal example of what being prepared truly is. These terrible acts of crime can affect anyone, at anytime, and counties who take advantage of such programs as Property Fraud Alert will continue to shine in the eyes of their constituents and their neighbors.

Lori Calcei called it quits on waiting to see what more could happen. Lori shared stories of two separate cases of property fraud in the Portage County area, proving that it could happen to anyone, unexpectedly. One of those victims was an acquaintance of Lori’s whose home had a second mortgage surprisingly placed on it. When the acquaintance attempted to sell the house, they discovered the second mortgage. At this point, it was too late to do anything about it and had no choice but to pay off the mortgage before selling the home. The other victim was a random customer who had visited the Recorder’s office, sharing a similar story of fraud against their home.

Property Fraud Alert works to warn citizens against such issues, alerting citizens the moment a document is recorded for their property. In increasing the awareness of this white-collar crime, county offices can continue to add value to their office and daily responsibilities, and build a better connection between themselves and their residents. Property Fraud Alert’s notification system alerts potential victims quickly and concisely, giving ample time to approach the issue. Property Fraud Alert is completely free for citizens to sign up for, granting them a service that they will thank county offices for. Portage County shines a light on the importance of preparedness with their work with Property Fraud Alert, setting a prime example of the mantra “better safe than sorry”.

Fidlar Technologies is eager to share the success of the recent Ohio User Group Meeting that took place in Columbus, Ohio earlier this month. As 10 counties from across the state came together, important topics were discussed and valuable information was shared. User Group Meetings provide immeasurable value to those in attendance, shedding light on common practices and new ideas alike. Lead by Fidlar Technologies staff, the User Group Meetings are educational and informational with a sprinkling of food and fun on top. Partner counties in each state are encouraged to attend, to learn and to share, and to bring valuable information back to benefit each county.

The Ohio User Group Meeting, held earlier this month in Columbus, covered a wide array of valuable topics. With the goal of county representatives leaving feeling fulfilled and informed, Fidlar Technologies’ own Greg Sullivan lead the meeting, guiding attendees through various topics. Beginning with a general overview of eRecording and what it offers counties, the meeting then transitioned into useful tips for operating AVID. Attendees then explored the value of Replication, Bastion, and how important improved security is for county offices. Members of the audience then examined online options for county data and images, covering avenues that would help counties stay technologically modern.

Fidlar Technologies works with counties to regularly promote the importance and value of your office and your records. The meeting then covered helpful tips on how to better help your community understand what your office provides. County records, and the officials and staff who manage them, represent an increasingly-important commodity in an evolving technological age. The recording world has seen new means of recording develop, and emerging entities changing how aspects of the field operate. • Lake County signs on to transition from iDoc to AVID this year [Lake County Recorder of Deeds, Becky Lynch, and her office prepare as the coming transition from iDoc to AVID takes place with a target date of November 2019.]

Fidlar Technologies is proud to feature Lake County and the step forward in technological modernization that Becky Lynch, Lake County Recorder of Deeds, and her staff are taking later this year. With their coming transition from iDoc to AVID, Becky and her office have an important objective laid out ahead of them. However, the county will experience a seamless transition with the help of Fidlar Technologies Project Managers who will be on-site training and supporting the county throughout the process.

Fidlar is pleased to announce the Williams County Recorder’s Office as its newest County Partner in Ohio. As they enter into their partnership, Recorder Patti Rockey and staff will begin processing documents with the highly integrated recording system, AVID. The system combines the components of document imaging, redaction, eRecording functions and more, eliminating the need for third-party resources. With these functions located conveniently together, AVID provides an enhanced ability to smoothly operate.

Along with numerous other components, staff members will have the assisted-indexing feature, iNSPECT, at their disposal. When applied to AVID, iNSPECT greatly increases recording accuracy while decreasing the chances of typographical error. The iNSPECT software and other modular components are developed in-house by Fidlar allowing for them to be properly maintained and updated for our County Partners.

Williams County will soon be able to make improvements upon their office workflow and the efficiencies they can provide to constituents. The AVID recording system’s scan-first workflow largely reduces paper shuffle, permitting the user to work from the digital image. These workflow techniques are suggested by Fidlar – to increase the user’s ability to perform their duties.
