The Ohio Fidlar eByte: April 2017
The Recorder’s Office has been an integral component of the land recording industry since the very first real estate transaction. Time has required the office to change and adapt its practices to better serve all constituents. Similarly, Fidlar Technologies has adapted the services and tools it provides to Recorders across the country. Serving the public since 1854, Fidlar is faithfully dedicated to the Recorder’s Office.
From recording books and ledgers in our early days to the gradual evolution of computer automation, Fidlar has worked alongside the Recorder’s Office throughout the journey of time. The resulting experience has allowed Fidlar to gain a deep insight into the development of industry standards and practices. Today, with the land records management system, AVID, powered by iNSPECT and the online access tool, ohiolandrecords.net, our County Partners are continuously enhancing the methods in which records are processed, recorded, and accessed by constituents.
“Using AVID, ohiolandrecords.net and other Fidlar products took our county from 1980’s DOS ‘green screen’ local software to a state-of-the-art lands records system. We went from needing 11 people to process a document – which could take as long as three weeks to return – to only needing three people to process a document for public viewing. Our turnaround time is 24 hours, sometimes even less. AVID has saved our county more than $100,000 in personnel costs. We are able to offer our public better service and a better product.” – Linda Oda, Warren County Recorder
