It comes as no surprise to us that many of our county partners do more than just record Deeds — they perform goodDEEDS. We thought it would be a great idea to share as many of these stories as possible. By doing so we hope to raise awareness of the various charities and organizations they contribute to. We want to build their momentum and effectiveness in achieving their very important goals.

We would like to recognize Beth Pabst, St Croix County Register of Deeds, WI, for her commitment to the local community. For the past fifteen years, Beth has helped to pack and deliver charity food baskets at both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Beth is a member of the Hammond Lions Club and the Hammond Snowdrifters Snowmobile Club; both of which operate independently to raise funding to purchase food items to produce the food baskets.

This Thanksgiving, Beth was joined by her daughter for the fifth year, to assist with packing fifty-four food baskets which contained canned goods, dry pasta, cereal, fresh squash, carrots, apples, potatoes, pie, bakery buns, a frozen turkey for Thanksgiving and a frozen ham for Christmas – all things to help a family celebrate a holiday. Beth was able to deliver nine of the food baskets to family homes. She felt rewarded by the thankful hugs she received and by spending time visiting the families they delivered too.

Families are selected as recipients because they may have experienced an unfortunate event such as the loss of a job or an unexcepted medical expense. In past years, the two groups’ efforts have led to the delivery of more than eighty food baskets at Thanksgiving and Christmas. On Saturday, December 15, Beth plans to help pack and deliver the Christmas food baskets.

We would like to thank Beth for dedicating time and effort to contributing to her community and beyond.
