It comes as no surprise to us that many of our county partners do more than just record Deeds — they perform goodDEEDS. We thought it would be a great idea to share as many of these stories as possible. By doing so we hope to raise awareness of the various charities and organizations they contribute to. We want to build their momentum and effectiveness in achieving their very important goals.
We would like to thank Marlene Mahler, Marshall County Recorder, Indiana for her charitable efforts this last holiday season. Each year, Marlene works with community volunteers and local students to operate the Culver Community Christmas Program. Seventeen years ago, Marlene founded the program and has directed its activity every winter. The program’s goal is to gather, package and distribute food and gifts to families less fortunate in the Culver School District.
This year, the adult members of the program’s committee worked with local churches, organizations, merchants and individuals to take in purchased and donated gift and food items. Volunteer students gathered on a Saturday to help put together and prepare each of the gift baskets. The following day, local Fire and EMS Departments transported and delivered the baskets to ninety senior citizen and family households. Each year, the program continually helps make the holiday season very merry for numerous individuals and families within the immediate area.
We would like to thank Marlene for her efforts and for donating her time to the community.
