It comes as no surprise to us that many of our county partners do more than just record Deeds — they perform goodDEEDS. We thought it would be a great idea to share as many of these stories as possible. By doing so we hope to raise awareness of the various charities and organizations they contribute to. We want to build their momentum and effectiveness in achieving their very important goals.

We would like to recognize Register of Deeds Jamie Nichols of Saline County in Missouri for her work with the Mid-Day Optimist Club in Marshall, Missouri. For over 15 years Jamie has been in charge of an Angel Tree during the holiday season. The charity benefits the Great Circle Tom Butterfield Campus, of which Jamie presides on the organization’s board. The Angel Tree is hosted at a local business and contains ornaments with children’s names from the Great Circle Tom Butterfield Campus and their personal wish list. People can ‘adopt’ a child and return with a wrapped gift from their wish list. This year, the Angel Tree provided gifts to seventy-seven children in need.

Jamie’s Optimist Club and other Optimist Clubs across the nation are dedicated to “bringing out the best in kids.” Adult volunteers join the Optimist Club to conduct positive service projects in communities aimed at providing a helping hand to youth.

We would like to thank Jamie for her efforts and for donating her time to the community.

If there is anyone in your office you feel would be a goodDEEDS candidate, please contact Alex Riggen by email, alexr@fidlar.com, or call him at 309-236-4822.
