It comes as no surprise to us that many of our county partners do more than just record Deeds — they perform goodDEEDS. We thought it would be a great idea to share as many of these stories as possible. By doing so we hope to raise awareness of the various charities and organizations they contribute to. We want to build their momentum and effectiveness in achieving their very important goals.
We would like to recognize Jodi Helgeson of the Adams County Register of Deeds’ Office in Wisconsin for her charitable efforts. Jodi has volunteered regularly for the last few years at Villa Pines Living Center in Friendship, Wisconsin. Her involvement with the activities program for the living center started out when there was a need for a substitute aviary program. Jodi’s partner, Jim Grabarski, raises peacocks so the two decided it would be the perfect opportunity to give a presentation about the particular bird to the residents.
Jodi displayed PowerPoint slides that she created, which allowed residents to view photos of the raising grounds, various aviary equipment, and of the peacocks fanning their extraordinary tails. Also present was a long tailed peacock rooster that sat in its carrier during the activities. The presentation was a great success and captivated the audience for nearly an hour. As a result, Jodi and Jim decided to give more interactive presentations for the elderly residents which created healthy interactions for all. Their goal in doing this was to get Villa Pines residents engaged with one another and to let them bond over their experiences they’ve had throughout their lifetimes.
We would like to thank Jodi for her charitable efforts and for donating her time to the community.
