We thought it would be a great idea to share as many of these stories as possible. By doing so we hope to raise awareness of the various charities and organizations they contribute to. We want to build their momentum and effectiveness in achieving their very important goals.

We would like to recognize Nichole Keller, Clay County Recorder, Indiana, for contributing to the Clay County Youth Food program. The program was started in 2013 when several educators determined that certain students were not eating on the weekends during the school year or during summer break. In its first year, the Youth Food program provided meals to nearly 100 school children through the local YMCA. Their effort has gained incredible momentum, as they now feed +750 children on a daily basis in the summer and send bags of food home on Fridays throughout the school year. The delivered food is distributed completely by unpaid volunteers.

To help the cause, Nichole started to sell snacks in the Recorder’s Office with the intention of using the profits to sponsor the food program. Through these efforts and the contributions of office staff, a $100 donation was made. In addition to fundraising efforts, Nichole and her First Deputy volunteer on a weekly basis to prepare meals that are then delivered to children the very next day.

We would like to thank Nichole for dedicating time and effort to contributing to her community.

If there is anyone in your office you feel would be a goodDEEDS candidate, please contact Alex Riggen by email, alexr@fidlar.com, or call him at 309-236-4822.
