goodDeeds_ARSalineIt comes as no surprise to us that many of our county partners do more than just record Deeds — they perform goodDEEDS. We thought it would be a great idea to share as many of these stories as possible. By doing so we hope to raise awareness of the various charities and organizations they contribute to. We want to build their momentum and effectiveness in achieving their very important goals.

We would like to recognize Myka Bono Sample, Circuit Clerk, Saline County, Arkansas, for her charitable efforts this last Holiday season. Through a combined effort between Myka and her staff, Christmas gifts were provided to an impoverished girl and boy from their community.

Myka’s desire to give charitably stemmed from her work experience in the Benton County Circuit Clerk’s Office. There she joined the other staff with their efforts to collect items that were sent overseas to deployed U.S. soldiers. The charitable act inspired Myka to do something similar within Saline County as the active Circuit Clerk. She presented the gift-giving idea to her staff; collectively they decided to create the Sunshine Fund.

ARSalineContributions to the Sunshine Fund came from a series of fun, themed days within the office. Each staff member paid $2.00, allowing them to participate in “Wear Your School Colors T-shirt” Day, “Wear Circuit Clerk T-shirt” Day, or “Wear Tennis Shoes” Day. Myka went to their local Walmart and selected two Christmas tree names. With more than $300.00 raised, the staff went shopping together for items on the children’s “need” list and one item from their “wish” list. The purchased items were wrapped by Walmart employees and then delivered to the children by the Salvation Army.

The Saline County Circuit Clerk staff have already begun their Sunshine Fund for next Christmas. They’ve started now with the hopes that they will be able to provide Christmas gifts for two boys and two girls in 2016.
