MNSteele1It comes as no surprise to us that many of our county partners do more than just record Deeds — they perform goodDEEDS. We thought it would be a great idea to share as many of these stories as possible. By doing so we hope to raise awareness of the various charities and organizations they contribute to. We want to build their momentum and effectiveness in achieving their very important goals.

We would like to recognize Liane Peterson of the Steele County Recorder’s Office in Minnesota for her charitable efforts with the Steele County Humane Society. Liane is heavily involved with the society; she actively volunteers at fundraiser events, fosters numerous adoptable animals and serves as the President of the society’s executive board. Located in Owatonna, Minnesota, the society is a foster-based shelter that relies on volunteers to board rescue animals. The society organizes monthly fundraisers to help with the cost of general operating expenses, such as monthly vet bills of animals being fostered.

Pancakes for Pets & Silent Auction, the society’s biggest annual fundraiser event, occurred this last March. The fundraiser took place at the Owatonna Eagles Club and consisted of a bake sale, a silent auction, and a pancake feast. All of the planning and work that goes into these events are coordinated by one of the board members along with local volunteers. Liane contributed baked goods to the event which was very well attended. It was once again a success for the Steele County Humane Society.

With the arrival of warm weather the humane society is able to have a booth at the weekly local farmer’s market. Liane makes herself present along with other volunteers from the society to inform anyone looking to adopt a pet. The third Saturday of every month marks Pet Adoption Day when adoptable pets are brought from their foster homes allowing for people to visit in hopes that they will be adopted and go to their forever home.

We would like to thank Liane for her charitable contribution to her community.
